A stone's throw from Farringdon Station, Karaoke Box Smithfield is a chic, modern and spacious contemporary cocktail bar. Surrounding the bar are sixteen private karaoke rooms of varying capacities, which are outfitted with plenty of attractive features: flatscreen TVs; leather seating; surround sound; wireless microphones so you can shake your booty while you sing; easy-to-use touch screen monitors with 9,000 + songs searchable by title or artist. Waitress service is available at the push of a button, when you just can’t pry yourself away from the microphone.

After the bar was refurbished in early January, they wanted to update the surrounding seating areas, creating a bookable area by the bar with own barman and waitress on hand. They also wanted to install LED lighting to improve the ambience within the venue, particularly in the new seating design and achieve a look that was changeable using RGB controlled LED’s.

Having seen a virtual demo highlighting how LED lights respond to both music and video when controlled by the XC the owners were so impressive they decided to use the XC not just in the Bar areas but also in one of the private Karaoke rooms.

The XC enabled them to control multiple zones that were independent of each other, allowing them to light up each area separately or together. The output from the sound desk was connected to the XC allowing all the LEDs to respond to the music being played when the DJ is playing. They also have a Digital projector in the main bar that can be used to show movies, visuals or presentations, when connected to the XC all the LED lights within the bar join in with what is being shown on the projection for a really incredible AV experience.

RGB LED lights were installed in the back of custom built seating, lighting up the walls behind. More LED lights were installed under champagne ice buckets in each seating area and RGB LEDs were installed within the bar top itself replacing tube lamps that didn’t offer the same quality of light. Underneath the custom seating area RGB LEDs were installed allowing light to spill down on to the floor of the club.

In the private Karaoke room, Pulsar Chromaspheres were fitted with the XC live karaoke feed running through the amBIENT XC so the lights join in with the Karaoke to create a continuously changing atmosphere, automatically with no programming required, driven by the audio.
